2006 Kansas Code - 38-1626
38-1626. Summons; persons upon whom served; form. (a) Persons upon whom served. The summons and a copy of the complaint shall be served on the juvenile alleged to be a juvenile offender, the parents or parent having legal custody or who may be ordered to pay child support by the court, the person with whom the juvenile is residing, and any other person designated by the county or district attorney.
(b) Form. The summons shall be issued by the clerk, dated the day
it is issued, contain the name of the court and the caption of the case
and be in substantially the following form:
In the Matter of ________________, Respondent
Case No. _____________ Date of birth ____________
A __ male __ female under the age of 18 years.
TO: __________________________ ___________________________________(Juvenile) __________________________ ___________________________________ (Father) __________________________ ___________________________________ (Mother) __________________________ ___________________________________ (Other having custody- (Address) relationship)
A complaint has been filed in this court, a copy of which is attached.
On ____________, 19__, at ___ o'clock __m. the above-named juvenile and a parent and any other person having legal custody are required to appear before this court at _______________. Failure to appear may cause the juvenile to be taken into custody and brought before the court.
The juvenile will be required to plead guilty or not guilty to the statements in the complaint. You have the right to hire an attorney to represent the above juvenile. If you do not hire an attorney, the court will appoint an attorney for the juvenile. The juvenile, parent or other person having legal custody of the juvenile may be required to repay the court for the expense of the appointed attorney. The court may order one or both parents to pay child support.
