2006 Kansas Code - 25-1338

      25-1338.   Procedure after polls closed; abstracts of vote. As soon as the polls are closed the judges shall immediately lock and seal the voting machine against further voting and open the counter compartment in the presence of all persons who may be lawfully present at the time giving full view to the counters and they shall canvass and announce the results as shown by the counters, including the votes recorded for each office on the independent ballots, and shall also announce the vote upon every amendment, proposition or question voted upon. The vote as registered shall be entered on three (3) abstracts provided by the county election officer and when completed shall be compared with the numbers on the counters of the machine. If found to be correct the abstracts shall be duly certified to and returned and filed with the county election officer. No tally sheets need be furnished or used when voting machines are used and no ballots need to be returned with the abstracts except those voted, whether counted or not. The provisions of subsection (c) of K.S.A. 25-3006 shall apply to this section, and the provisions of subsections (a) and (b) of K.S.A. 25-3006 and this section shall be implemented by appropriate provisions for the various kinds of voting machines.
