Department of public defense.
The department of public defense is composed of the office of the adjutant general and the military forces of the state of Iowa. The adjutant general is the director of the department of public defense and shall perform all functions, responsibilities, powers, and duties concerning the military forces of the state of Iowa as provided in the laws of the state.
