230.2  Finding of  residence.

If a person’s residency status is disputed, the residency shall be determined in accordance with section 331.394.  Otherwise, the district court may, when the person is ordered placed in a hospital for psychiatric examination and appropriate treatment, or as soon thereafter as the court obtains the proper information, determine and enter of record whether the  residence of the person is in a county or the person is deemed to be a state case, as follows:

1.  In the county from which the person was placed in the hospital.

2.  In another county of the state.

3.  In a foreign state or country and deemed to be a state case.

4.  Unknown and deemed to be a state case.
