     Sec. 7. (a) Except as provided in section 8 of this chapter, dealer license plates may be used only on motor vehicles in the:

(1) dealer's inventory being held for sale;

(2) usual operation of the dealer's business;

(3) movement of the dealer's inventory; or

(4) inventory of a dealer that is unattended by the dealer or the dealer's agent for a maximum of ten (10) days by a prospective buyer or a service customer.

     (b) The license plates referenced in subsection (a) must be:

(1) primarily used or stored at an address within Indiana; or

(2) displayed on a motor vehicle being transported for purposes of sale by a licensed Indiana dealer.

     (c) A person that violates this section commits a Class A infraction.
