Chapter 6. Definitions
IC 9-14-6-1
Applicability of chapter
Sec. 1. The definitions in this chapter apply throughout this
article.

"Disclose"
Sec. 2. "Disclose" means to engage in a practice or conduct to
make available and make known personal information contained in
a record about a person to another person by any means of
communication.

"Electronic record"
Sec. 3. "Electronic record" means a record created, generated,
sent, communicated, received, or stored by electronic means.

"Electronic signature"
Sec. 4. "Electronic signature" means an electronic sound, symbol,
or process attached to or logically associated with an electronic
record and executed or adopted by a person with the intent to sign
the electronic record.

"Highly restricted personal information"
Sec. 5. "Highly restricted personal information" means the
following information that identifies an individual:
(1) Digital photograph or image.
(2) Social Security number.
(3) Medical or disability information.

"Personal information"
Sec. 6. "Personal information" means information that identifies
an individual, including an individual's:
(1) digital photograph or image;
(2) Social Security number;
(3) driver's license or identification document number;
(4) name;

(5) address (but not the ZIP code);
(6) telephone number; or
(7) medical or disability information.
The term does not include information about vehicular accidents,
driving or equipment related violations, and driver's license or
registration status.

"Record"
Sec. 7. "Record" means any information, books, papers,
photographs, photostats, cards, films, tapes, recordings, electronic
data, printouts, or other documentary materials, regardless of
medium, that are created or maintained by the bureau.
