Download as PDF IC 5-10-9 Chapter 9. Deposits on Behalf of Local Employees IC 5-10-9-1 "Municipal corporation" defined Sec. 1. As used in this chapter: "Municipal corporation" means county, city, town, township, school corporation, library district, fire protection district, public transportation corporation, local hospital authority or corporation, local airport authority district, special service district, or other separate local governmental entity that may sue and be sued. The term does not include special taxing district. As added by Acts 1980, P.L.8, SEC.43. IC 5-10-9-2 Deposits Sec. 2. An employee of a municipal corporation may make a written request that any compensation due him from the municipal corporation be deposited to his account in a bank or trust company. Upon receipt of request, the officer responsible for making the disbursements may: (1) draw a check in favor of the bank or trust company set forth in the request for the credit of the employee; or (2) in the event more than one (1) employee of the same municipal corporation designates the same bank or trust company, draw a single check in favor of the bank or trust company for the total amount due the employees and transmit the check to the bank or trust company identifying each employee and the amount to be deposited in each employee's account. Payment by a municipal corporation of a check properly endorsed and drawn in accordance with this chapter constitutes full payment for the amount due the employee.
