(a) An Indiana tribunal may serve as an initiating or a responding tribunal in a proceeding brought under: (1) this article or a law or procedure substantially similar to this article; or (2) a law or procedure substantially similar to the Uniform Reciprocal Enforcement of Support Act or the Revised Uniform Reciprocal Enforcement of Support Act; to determine that the petitioner is a parent of a child or to determine that a respondent is a parent of the child. (b) In a proceeding to determine paternity, a responding Indiana tribunal shall apply the: (1) procedural and substantive law of Indiana; and (2) rules of Indiana on choice of law. As added by P.L.1-1997, SEC.10. Amended by P.L.213-1999, SEC.32. IC 31-18-7-2 Jurisdiction Sec. 2. Nothing in this chapter shall be construed to confer jurisdiction on the court to determine issues of custody, parenting time, or the surname of a child. However, the parties may stipulate to the jurisdiction of the court with regard to custody, parenting time, or the surname of a child. As added by P.L.1-1997, SEC.10. Amended by P.L.68-2005, SEC.55.
