Chapter 725 - CRIMINAL PROCEDURE
725 ILCS 245/ - Witness Protection Act.

Sec. 1. This Act shall be known and may be cited as the "Witness Protection Act".

(725 ILCS 245/2) (from Ch. 38, par. 155-22)
Sec. 2. The Illinois Law Enforcement Commission with respect to federal grant moneys received by such Commission prior to January 1, 1983, may make grants prior to April 1, 1983 to the several State's Attorneys of the State of Illinois. Such grants may be made to any State's Attorney who applies for funds to provide for protection of witnesses and the families and property of witnesses involved in criminal investigations and prosecutions.

Sec. 3.
The protection which may be provided includes, but is not limited to the salaries and related costs of personal guards, protective custody and relocation costs. No such protection may be provided without the written consent of the witness.

Sec. 4. All grants made pursuant to this Act shall be made in accordance with this Act and rules and regulations established prior to January 1, 1983 by the Illinois Law Enforcement Commission.
