10 GCA HEALTH AND S AFETY CH. 36 MOSQUITO CONTROL CHAPTER 36 MOSQUITO CONTROL § 36101. Mosquito Control. § 36102. Water Storage. § 36103. Rules and Regulations. § 36101. Mosquito Control. It shall be unlawful for the owner, lessee or occupant of any premises, or the owner or lessee of any vacant land to have, keep, maintain, cause or permit any collection of standing water in which mosquitoes are propagated, or in which mosquitoes may be propagated, unless such water is treated so as effectually to prevent such breeding. The method of treatment of any such water for the prevention of propagation of mosquitoes may be any one or more of the following as may be appropriate: (a) Screening with wire or plastic netting of at least eighteen (18) mesh to the inch each way, or with any other material which will effectually prevent the ingress or ingress of mosquitoes; (b) Complete emptying every seven (7) days of unscreened containers; (c) Covering completely the surface of the water with kerosene, petroleum, mineral oil or similar material as frequently as necessary to prevent the propagation of mosquitoes there, and in no case less frequently than every ten (10) days; (d) Stocking with mosquito-destroying fish and clearing and keeping ponds, pools, receptacles and other standing water sufficiently clear of vegetative growth and other obstructions to render all water therein freely accessible to such fish; (e) Filling or draining to prevent temporary or permanent accumulations of water; and (f) Proper disposal, by removal or destruction of containers, such as tin cans, tin boxes, broken or empty bottles, abandoned appliances and vehicles, and similar holding or likely to hold water. Water Storage. 1 COL120106 10 GCA HEALTH AND S AFETY CH. 36 MOSQUITO CONTROL All reservoirs, cisterns, barrels, tanks or other receptacles used for water storage shall be made mosquito proof in a manner satisfactory to the Director. The Director may establish rules and regulations relative to mosquitoes, mosquito breeding conditions and mosquito propagation as may be necessary to control disease carrying mosquitoes or to control mosquito-borne diseases.
