Ga. L. 1989, p. 1786, § 1, effective July 1, 1989, repealed the Code sections formerly codified at Article 3 and enacted the current article. The former article consisted of Code Sections 50-12-40 through 50-12-46, relating to the State Commission on Physical Fitness, and was based on Ga. L. 1978, p. 814, §§ 1 through 7.

Ga. L. 2025, p. 332, § 11-5/SB 96, not codified by the General Assembly, provides: “Any assets of the Georgia State Games Commission existing as of June 30, 2025, shall devolve by operation of law and without further action to the State of Georgia on July 1, 2025. Any liabilities and obligations of the Georgia State Games Commission existing as of June 30, 2025, shall be transferred to and assumed by the State of Georgia, by such instruments as may be required to maintain the same.”
