Chapter 24 - Librarians
§ 43-24-7. Continuing Education Requirements

  1. The board shall be authorized to require persons holding a certificate under this chapter to complete board approved continuing education of not less than ten hours biennially as a condition of certificate renewal. The board shall be authorized to approve programs offered by professional associations, educational institutions, government agencies, and bibliographic utilities, and others as it deems appropriate.
  2. The board shall be authorized to waive the continuing education requirement in cases of hardship, disability, or illness or under such other circumstances as the board deems appropriate.
  3. The board shall be authorized to promulgate rules and regulations to implement and ensure compliance with the requirements of this Code section.
  4. The board shall have the authority to appoint a committee or committees composed of certified librarians, as it deems appropriate, to administer, implement, and otherwise carry out the provisions of this chapter relating to continuing education.
