§ 34-9-42. Qualifications and Roles of Members

  1. The chairperson of the board shall be a person who, on account of his or her previous employment, affiliation, or experience, shall be considered knowledgeable of the concerns of the public at large. One of the remaining two board members shall be a person who, on account of his or her previous employment, association, or affiliation, shall be knowledgeable of the concerns of employers; and the one remaining member of the board shall be a person whose previous employment or affiliation has been as a member of a group subject to this chapter as an employee, regardless of whether the employment of such person has been with a person, firm, or corporation actually operating under this chapter, and who shall be knowledgeable of the concerns of employees.
  2. The chairperson and each board member shall be a member of the State Bar of Georgia with at least seven years of practice experience and shall be subject to the Georgia Code of Judicial Conduct.

JUDICIAL DECISIONS

Temporary deputy director need not meet qualifications.

- Person appointed by the board to serve temporarily on the board as a deputy director pursuant to O.C.G.A. § 34-9-47 need not meet the qualifications of a regular director of the board selected by the governor pursuant to O.C.G.A. §§ 34-9-40 and34-9-42. Dougherty County Bd. of Educ. v. Lundy, 183 Ga. App. 550, 359 S.E.2d 403, cert. denied, 183 Ga. App. 906, 359 S.E.2d 403 (1987).
