2006 Georgia Code - 21-2-75
21-2-75. (a) No person who holds elective public office,
as defined in this chapter and including every municipal office to
which persons can be elected by a vote of the electors under the
laws of this state, shall be eligible to serve as a member of a
county board of elections during the term of such elective office;
and the position of any county board of elections member shall be
deemed vacant upon such member´s qualifying as a candidate
for elective public office, as defined in this chapter and
including any municipal office to which persons can be elected by a
vote of the electors under the laws of this state.
(b) No person who holds office in a
political party at any level of such political party shall be
eligible to serve as chairperson of a county board of elections
during the term of such political party office. On and after April
15, 1996, the position of any chairperson of a county board of
elections shall be deemed vacant upon such chairperson´s
assuming a political party office.
