2006 Georgia Code - 2-19-8
2-19-8. No indemnity payments shall be paid pursuant to
this chapter unless the General Assembly appropriates not less than
$5 million of state funds to the Georgia Cotton Producers Indemnity
Fund of 1999, and such appropriated state funds become available to
the fund on or before July 1, 1999, for the purpose of making
indemnity payments. This chapter shall be repealed on July 1, 1999,
if the General Assembly has not appropriated $5 million or more of
state funds on or before such date to match the $5 million in
federal funds made available for the purpose of making indemnity
payments pursuant to the federal act. If this chapter is repealed
pursuant to the provisions of this Code section, all moneys
received from the United States pursuant to the federal act shall
be repaid to the secretary of agriculture as provided in the
federal act. If this chapter is repealed as provided in this Code
section, the Commissioner and the department shall be authorized to
assist the secretary of agriculture in determining eligibility of
Georgia cotton producers for indemnity payments by the
secretary.
