255.556 Asbestos assessment.

255.556 Asbestos assessment.

When the survey indicates the presence of friable asbestos-containing materials in a public building, the survey shall also include an assessment of the level of airborne asbestos fibers. This assessment shall include a visual assessment followed by an analysis of air samples which shall be conducted in accordance with rules of the 1Department of Labor and Employment Security; Environmental Protection Agency guidelines; National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants; and Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations. If the overall assessment indicates the presence of asbestos greater than 0.01 asbestos structures per cubic centimeter during periods of normal activity, response action shall be taken.
