Legislative History of Laws
Law 9-197 was introduced in Council and assigned Bill No. 9-43, which was referred to the Committee on Human Services. The Bill was adopted on first and second readings on October 6, 1992, and November 4, 1992, respectively. Signed by the Mayor on November 25, 1992, it was assigned Act No. 9-322 and transmitted to both Houses of Congress for its review. D.C. Law 9-197 became effective on March 16, 1993.
Severability
Section 21 of D.C. Law 9-197 provided that if any provision of the act is held invalid for any reason, the invalidity shall not effect the other provisions which shall be given effect without the invalid provisions.
