Section 38a-777 - (Formerly Sec. 38-86). Penalty.

CT Gen Stat § 38a-777 (2015) What's This?

Any surplus lines broker licensee under section 38a-769 or 38a-794 who negotiates, continues or renews any contract for insurance from any unauthorized insurer, and who fails to make and file the statements required under section 38a-741, or who wilfully makes a false statement, or who negotiates, continues or renews any such contract of insurance after the revocation or during the suspension of the licensee’s license, shall forfeit the license if not previously revoked and shall be fined not more than four thousand dollars or imprisoned not more than six months, or both.

History: Sec. 38-86 transferred to Sec. 38a-777 in 1991; P.A. 01-113 deleted reference to Sec. 38a-795 and made technical changes for the purpose of gender neutrality, effective September 1, 2002; P.A. 08-178 made technical changes and increased maximum fine from $500 to $4,000; P.A. 13-171 changed affidavit and statements to statements required under Sec. 38a-741, and made technical and conforming changes, effective June 21, 2013; P.A. 14-235 added “surplus lines broker” re licensee, replaced reference to Secs. 38a-741 to 38a-744 with reference to Sec. 38a-769, and made technical changes.
