2005 Connecticut Code - Sec. 29-341. (Formerly Sec. 29-82). Penalty.
Sec. 29-341. (Formerly Sec. 29-82). Penalty. Any person who, by himself or his
employee or agent, or as the employee or agent of another, violates or fails to comply
with any regulation promulgated under section 29-337, or who operates or permits the
operation of a motor vehicle in violation of section 29-339, shall be fined not more than
five hundred dollars for the first offense, and be fined not less than one thousand dollars
nor more than two thousand dollars or imprisoned not more than six months or both for
each subsequent offense. If death or injury results from any such violation, the fine shall
be not more than ten thousand dollars and the period of imprisonment not more than
ten years or both.
History: 1959 act extended penalty to operation or permitting operation of a vehicle in violation of Sec. 29-80; P.A. 79-512 added specific penalties for subsequent offenses and for violations which result in injury or death; Sec. 29-82 transferred to Sec. 29-341 in 1983; P.A. 86-386 increased the maximum fine from five hundred to one thousand dollars and eliminated the term of imprisonment for the first offense, and increased the minimum fine from five hundred to one thousand dollars and the maximum fine from one thousand to two thousand dollars and decreased the maximum term of imprisonment from one year to six months for a subsequent offense; P.A. 95-93 reduced the maximum fine for the first offense from one thousand to five hundred dollars.
