Sec. 22-306. Enforcement. Regulations. Penalty. (a) The commissioner shall be
responsible for the enforcement of the provisions of sections 22-298, 22-299a, 22-301
and 22-303 to 22-307, inclusive, and shall make such regulations as are necessary thereunder for the eradication of brucellosis, including the handling of the vaccine and method
of vaccination, the effective identification of the vaccinated animals, the drawing of
blood samples, the testing thereof and the identification of tested animals. Effective
identification shall mean that all calves vaccinated with Brucella vaccine shall be permanently identified by the application of a tattoo in the right ear in a manner approved by
the United States Livestock Sanitary Association and the Commissioner of Agriculture,
except that tattoos applied under the regulations of any recognized breed association
shall be considered sufficient identification. The commissioner may enter into cooperative agreements with the United States Department of Agriculture in furtherance of the
purposes of said sections.
(c) No person shall change wilfully or knowingly the identification of any animal by tampering with the ear tag, tattoo or brand or otherwise, for the purpose of concealing or falsifying any animal's history as recorded in the files of the state Department of Agriculture.
(d) Any person who violates any provision of said sections shall be fined not more than one hundred dollars or imprisoned not more than thirty days or both.

Sess. P.A. 03-6, thereby reversing the merger of the Departments of Agriculture and Consumer Protection, effective June 1, 2004.
