Article 245. Mental Health
Section 12-245-605. Rights and privileges of licensure - title.

(1) Any person who possesses a valid, unsuspended, and unrevoked license as a licensed professional counselor has the right to use the title for which the person is licensed pursuant to section 12-245-604. A licensed professional counselor licensed pursuant to section 12-245-604 has the right to use the abbreviation "LPC". No other person shall assume this title or use this abbreviation on any work or letter, sign, figure, or device to indicate that the person using the same is a licensed professional counselor.

  1. Any person duly licensed as a licensed professional counselor is not required to obtain any other license or certification to practice professional counseling unless otherwise required by the state board of licensed professional counselor examiners.

  2. Nothing in this act shall be construed to prevent members of other professions licensed under the laws of this state from rendering services within the scope of practice as set out in the statutes regulating their professional practices, if they do not represent themselves to be professional counselors, or their services as professional counseling.

  3. Nothing in this part 6 prevents the practice of psychotherapy by persons registeredwith the state board of unlicensed psychotherapists pursuant to section 12-245-703.
