7673.1.
(a) Any cremated remains disposer who stores cremated remains in a reckless manner that results in either of the following is guilty of a public offense punishable by imprisonment in a county jail not exceeding one year or by a fine not to exceed five thousand dollars ($5,000), or by both that fine and imprisonment:
(1) Loss of all or part of the cremated remains.
(2) Inability to individually identify the cremated remains.
(b) This section shall remain in effect only until July 1, 2020, and as of that date is repealed.
(Amended by Stats. 2017, Ch. 846, Sec. 21. (AB 967) Effective January 1, 2018. Repealed as of July 1, 2020, by its own provisions. See later operative version added by Stats. 2017, Ch. 846.)
