ARTICLE 4. Wellness and Physical Fitness
Section 12041


CA Govt Code § 12041 (through 2012 Leg Sess) What's This?

The Legislature finds and declares that wellness and physical fitness should be the goal of every American and, therefore, creates the Council on Wellness and Physical Fitness with the following responsibilities:

(a) Develop and coordinate state and local activities involving the wellness and physical fitness of all Californians, including workshops, clinics, conferences and other similar activities.

(b) Assist schools in developing health and physical fitness programs which benefit students, including those with special needs.

(c) Encourage local governments and communities to develop local wellness and physical fitness programs.

(d) Enlist the support of individuals, civic groups, amateur and professional associations and other organizations to promote and improve wellness and physical fitness programs.

(e) Assist business, industry, labor organizations, and state agencies in establishing sound wellness programs to improve employee health and reduce the costs resulting from physical inactivity.

(f) Stimulate wellness and physical fitness research.

(g) Give recognition to outstanding developments and achievements in, and contributions to, wellness and physical fitness.

(h) Collect and disseminate wellness and physical fitness information, and initiate an advertising campaign promoting physical fitness and wellness.
