2009 California Government Code - Section 58060-58061 :: Article 3. Preliminary Hearing

58060.  Upon presentation and filing of the formation petition the
supervising authority shall fix a time and place for its hearing. The
hearing shall not be less than 20 nor more than 40 days after
presentation and filing.

58061.  If the principal act or any other law applicable to the
formation of the district requires the making of an investigation of
and a report on the project, the hearing may be continued from time
to time to enable the making of such investigation and report. Such
continuance shall not exceed three months.
