2009 California Education Code - Section 10700-10701 :: Chapter 7.5. Joint Data Systems

EDUCATION CODE
SECTION 10700-10701

10700.  It is the intent of the Legislature to enact legislation
that will develop a coordinated adult education data system that
accomplishes all of the following:
   (a) Uses standardized procedures to collect data.
   (b) Complies with relevant federal statutes in elementary,
secondary, and postsecondary education.
   (c) Makes efficient use of existing data systems in the California
Community College system and the department.
   (d) Is based upon individual pupil and student records that,
preferably, can be linked through the use of a common student
identifier.
   (e) Contains a common data dictionary that can be used to provide
valid, comparable data regarding enrollment, demographics, outcomes,
and other educational or economic policy issues.
   (f) Complies with all relevant state and federal privacy laws and
regulations.

10701.  The Chancellor of the California Community Colleges and the
superintendent, using existing resources, shall convene a working
group of adult education and data experts to review the separate,
existing adult education and noncredit instruction data systems, and
report to the Legislature and the Governor by July 1, 2007, on the
feasibility, design, and cost of a common data set in adult
education.
