WELFARE AND INSTITUTIONS CODESECTION 18650
18650. Every blind person who was a resident of the Oakland Orientation Center for the Blind on March 1, 1951, who may be transferred to other facilities either public or private and who is unable to work, shall be considered as a beneficiary of the state in exercise of the power to assist the handicapped, and when he has no other source of income or support, including receipt of benefits under any public assistance program, shall receive not less than two dollars () per week as aid for his personal needs. Such payments shall be made from funds appropriated for the support of the department. The director may contract with public or private agencies for the proper care of all residents who may be transferred from the Oakland Orientation Center for the Blind to other public or private facilities. Payments for the support of all persons so transferred shall be made from funds appropriated for the support of the department. All residents who are transferred from the Oakland Orientation Center for the Blind to other facilities shall be provided at the expense of the state with room, board, medical, dental and eye care, and such other services as may be deemed necessary by the director.
