60410.  The district board of each high school district may fix a
charge not to exceed the cost of the books to the high school
district for books furnished pupils in classes for adults.  In lieu
of fixing such charge, the board may lend books to such pupils and
require the making of deposits by the pupils, the amount of deposit
made by a pupil to be refunded to him upon the return by him of the
books lent him in good condition, reasonable wear and tear excepted.



60411.  The district board of each high school district shall
purchase textbooks and may purchase supplementary books for the use
of pupils enrolled in the high schools of the district.  The
textbooks and supplementary books shall at all times remain the
property of the district, and shall be supplied to the pupils for use
without charge.
