2005 California Financial Code Sections 1877 Article 6. Examinations

FINANCIAL CODE
SECTION 1877

1877.  (a) The commissioner in his or her discretion may at any time
make such examinations within or outside of this state of any
licensee under this chapter as he or she deems reasonably necessary
to determine whether any person has violated any provision of this
chapter or any regulation or order hereunder, or to aid in the
enforcement of this chapter.
   (b) The officers and employees of a licensee under this chapter
being examined by the commissioner shall exhibit to the commissioner,
or any officer designated by him or her, on request, any or all of
its accounts, books, correspondence, papers, memorandums, agreements
or other documents or records relevant or material to the examination
and shall otherwise facilitate such examination so far as it may be
in their power to do so.
   (c) For the purposes of any examination or proceeding under this
chapter, the commissioner or any officer designated by the
commissioner may administer oaths and affirmations, and may by
issuance of a subpoena, compel the appearance of any person, and
require the production of any books, papers, correspondence,
memorandums, agreements or other documents or records relevant or
material to the examination or proceeding.
   (d) Where the principal place of business of any licensee under
this chapter is located in another state, the commissioner may, in
his or her discretion, in lieu of any examination provided for
herein, accept a certified copy of the report of examination
completed by the licensing or other authority having regulatory
jurisdiction over the issuance and sale of traveler's checks of
another state.
