§ 27-24-703. Members of Senate

  • (a)
    • (1) The Director of the Department of Finance and Administration shall each year cause to be prepared thirty-nine (39) special license plates for members and selected staff of the Senate and deliver them to the Secretary of the Senate for distribution.
    • (2) The special license plates shall be numbered consecutively "1" -- "37".
  • (b) Upon each of the special license plates there shall appear the word "Senator" in addition to other identification information as the director with the approval of the Senate Efficiency Committee and subject to the approval of the Senate.
  • (c)
    • (1) The special license plate numbered "1" shall be reserved for the President Pro Tempore of the Senate.
    • (2) On or before January 15 of each odd-numbered year, the secretary as directed by the Senate Efficiency Committee shall furnish the director with a list of the names of members of the Senate and shall designate the special license plate number that shall be reserved for each member of the Senate.
    • (3)
      • (A) The words "President Pro Tem" shall appear on special license plate number "1".
      • (B) [Repealed.]
      • (C) The words "Secretary of the Senate" shall appear on special license plate number "36".
      • (D) The words "Senate Chief of Staff" shall appear on special license plate number "37".
      • (E)
        • (i) The word "Senator" shall appear on the standard Senate special license plate numbers "1" through "35".
        • (ii) The assignment of the numbers "1" through "35" shall be made by the Senate Efficiency Committee.
  • (d) A member of the Senate who desires to obtain special license plates may obtain them by applying to the director upon forms to be provided by him or her and upon the payment of all taxes and fees that may be due.
