49-553. Vehicle emissions; research; equipment; cost analysis
A. The department of environmental quality shall conduct research to quantify the effect of alternative fuels on toxic components of vehicular emissions. This shall include aldehydes, particularly formaldehyde, benzene and other aromatics.
B. The department shall acquire, with monies from the air quality fund, equipment capable of measuring the emissions effects of the use of oxygenated gasoline blends by means of the federal test procedures. The department shall use the equipment for the purpose of emissions testing of the vehicles required to be tested pursuant to statute.
C. The department may hire consultants for the purpose of analyzing the costs and benefits of the carbon monoxide reduction measures adopted by this chapter and to design and execute and to evaluate the results of any testing program required by this chapter.
