2005 Arizona Revised Statutes - Revised Statutes §8-242  Evaluation and disposition of developmentally disabled child

A. If evidence indicates that a child who is under the jurisdiction of the court pursuant to this chapter or chapter 3 or 10 of this title may be suffering from developmental disabilities, the juvenile court shall order a study and report on the child's condition.

B. If it appears from the study and the report that such child is developmentally disabled and the child has been adjudicated dependent, incorrigible or delinquent, the juvenile court shall hear the matter, and such child shall be assigned by the juvenile court pursuant to section 8-341 or 8-845. If a developmentally disabled child is assigned by the juvenile court to the department of economic security, such assignment shall be subject to the provisions of section 36-560.

C. If it appears from the study and report or hearing that the child is not subject to assignment as a developmentally disabled child, the juvenile court shall proceed in the manner as otherwise provided by this chapter or chapter 3 or 10 of this title.
