2005 Arizona Revised Statutes - Revised Statutes §48-2421  Payment of claims; exceptions; imprest fund

A. No claim shall be paid by the district treasurer until allowed by the board and only upon a warrant signed by the president and attested by the secretary. This subsection shall not apply to the payment of interest coupons on outstanding bonds when due, nor to the principal of the bonds when they mature or are redeemed as provided by section 48-2420, nor to expenditures made by the treasurer from the imprest fund.

B. The president or vice president and secretary or assistant secretary shall issue a warrant not to exceed one million dollars upon a claim certified by the district treasurer or assistant treasurer for the purpose of creating an imprest fund to facilitate payments of accounts and expenses incurred in the ordinary course of business. When the president or vice president and secretary or assistant secretary have issued such warrant, they shall not issue a further warrant until there is filed with them an itemized and verified statement by the district treasurer or assistant treasurer accompanied by receipts and vouchers or other documentation showing in detail the expenditures made from the amount previously advanced for the imprest fund. Upon receipt of the statement the president or vice president and secretary or assistant secretary shall issue another warrant upon a certified claim from the district treasurer or assistant treasurer to replenish the imprest fund. The total amount in the imprest fund shall not at any time exceed one million dollars.
