Chapter 12.65 CORONERS AND MEDICAL EXAMINERS
Section 12.65.010 APPOINTMENT OF MEDICAL EXAMINER.

The commissioner of health and social services may appoint medical examiners in each of the judicial districts. The commissioner may appoint any number and designate them to serve in those areas as, in the opinion of the commissioner, the administration of justice requires. To be eligible for medical examiner, a person shall be a physician licensed to practice in this state or a physician employed by the state, or by any agency of the United States government within the state if the physician is licensed in a state other than Alaska. Appointments shall be for a term not more than one year.
