Registration of certain noncommercial motor vehicles for less than twelve months--
Fee.
The owner of any noncommercial motor vehicle which would be required to pay a license fee
based on the gross weight of the motor vehicle as provided by § 32-5-6.3 may register the vehicle
for a period of three to eight months, inclusive, in lieu of an annual registration. The fee for such a
registration shall be one-twelfth of the annual license fee for the motor vehicle as determined
pursuant to § 32-5-6.3 multiplied by the number of months for which the motor vehicle is to be
registered, however in no event shall the fee be less than fifteen dollars. This section does not apply
to any recreational vehicle as defined by § 32-3-1.
If the owner of the motor vehicle registers such motor vehicle more than once each year pursuant
to this section, the owner shall pay upon the second or subsequent registration pursuant to this
section a ten dollar administrative fee for each license issued pursuant to this section. The
administrative fee shall be retained by the county to cover administrative costs.
