Special lights for vehicles operated by handicapped--Violation as petty offense.
Any vehicle owned and operated by a person authorized by the Department of Public Safety to
display a special handicapped license plate may be equipped with not to exceed two flashing lights
which shall emit an amber light without glare. One such lamp may be mounted on the front and one
may be mounted on the rear of such vehicle, not more than three inches from each license plate. Such
lamp may be used only when such vehicle is operated by the owner thereof, when such vehicle is
stopped, and when the owner-operator of the vehicle is in need of assistance. A violation of this
section is a petty offense.
