A certified copy of the record of execution and return shall be admissible as
evidence of the contents of the execution and return; and in the event of the
destruction, loss, or obliteration of the return, amendments thereof may be
allowed to be made upon a copy of the record certified by the city clerk, town
clerk, or recorder of deeds, as the case may be, of the city or town wherein
the deed, execution, or return shall have been recorded, with the same effect
as if the amendment had been made on the original return.
