Every probate court may punish any contempt of its authority by fine or
imprisonment or both. Every probate court may issue writs of habeas corpus to
bring before it any person in jail to be examined as a witness in any suit or
proceeding pending in the court, that the ends of justice may be attained, and
for no other purpose.
