No person shall be eligible to serve as a probate judge in any city or town in
this state unless he or she has been admitted to practice as an attorney before
the Rhode Island supreme court and has been engaged in the active practice of
law in this state. Each city or town may establish additional standards as may
be determined by city or town ordinance.
