§ 8-8-10 — Retirement of judges.


    Whenever any person has served as a judge in the court for twenty (20) years and has reached the age of sixty-five (65) years or has so served for fifteen (15) years and has reached the age of seventy (70) years, he or she may resign his or her office and thereafter he or she shall receive annually during his or her life a sum equal to three-fourths ( 3/4) of the annual salary that he or she was receiving at the time of resignation. For the purposes of eligibility for retirement under this section, service as a justice on any predecessor district court prior to September 15, 1969 shall be included as if that service had been on the district court created by this chapter.
