    18-2410.  PROHIBITING DEFACING, ALTERING OR OBLITERATING NUMBERS -- SALES
PROHIBITED -- PENALTY. (1) Any person who, with intent to deceive or defraud
others, shall deface, alter, remove, cover, destroy or obliterate the
manufacturer's serial or identification number on any item of property shall
be guilty of a felony.
    (2)  Any person or persons who, with intent to deceive or defraud others,
knowingly disposes of, sells, trades or barters, or offers to dispose of,
sell, trade or barter any item of property on which the manufacturer's serial
or identification number has been defaced, altered, removed, covered or
obliterated shall be guilty of a felony.
    (3)  Any violation of the provisions of this act [this section] shall be
punishable by a fine not to exceed one thousand dollars ($1,000) or by
imprisonment of not more than five (5) years in the state penitentiary or
both.
