Sec. 21a-72. (Formerly Sec. 19-210b). Certificate of disinfection of stuffed
toys. Any manufacturer of stuffed toys to be sold in the state using materials in such
toys containing products of animal origin shall obtain from the Department of Consumer
Protection a certificate of disinfection on forms provided by said department. The application for such certificate shall contain random samples of such products when ready
for market. Only disinfecting processes approved by said department as rendering such
products clean, pure and neither harmful nor dangerous to potential users thereof shall
be used. Any person, firm or corporation which sells or offers to sell any such stuffed
toy for which such certificate of disinfection has not been obtained shall be fined not
more than five hundred dollars or imprisoned not more than six months or both.
History: Sec. 19-210b transferred to Sec. 21a-72 in 1983; June 30 Sp. Sess. P.A. 03-6 and P.A. 04-169 replaced Department of Consumer Protection with Department of Agriculture and Consumer Protection, effective July 1, 2004; P.A. 04-189 repealed Sec. 146 of June 30 Sp. Sess. P.A. 03-6, thereby reversing the merger of the Departments of Agriculture and Consumer Protection, effective June 1, 2004.
