15.2-1423. Powers of chairman or mayor.

In addition to being presiding officer, the chairman or mayor, as the casemay be, shall be the head of the local government for all official functionsand ceremonial purposes. He shall have a vote but no veto.

In the event that there is no chief administrative officer, it shall be theduty of the chairman or mayor, as the case may be, to see that the functionsset forth in 15.2-1541 are carried out if the governing body has not actedotherwise.
