(1) The Chairman of the Majority or Minority Policy Committee of the Senate may, during any fiscal year, at his or her election transfer funds from the appropriation account for salaries for the Majority and Minority Policy Committees of the Senate, to the account, within the contingent fund of the Senate, from which expenses are payable for such committees.
(2) The Chairman of the Majority or Minority Policy Committee of the Senate may, during any fiscal year, at his or her election transfer funds from the appropriation account for expenses, within the contingent fund of the Senate, for the Majority and Minority Policy Committees of the Senate, to the account from which salaries are payable for such committees.
(b) Transfer of funds for Conference Committees(1) The Chairman of the Majority or Minority Conference Committee of the Senate may, during any fiscal year, at his or her election transfer funds from the appropriation account for salaries for the Majority and Minority Conference Committees of the Senate, to the account, within the contingent fund of the Senate, from which expenses are payable for such committees.
(2) The Chairman of the Majority or Minority Conference Committee of the Senate may, during any fiscal year, at his or her election transfer funds from the appropriation account for expenses, within the contingent fund of the Senate, for the Majority and Minority Conference Committees of the Senate, to the account from which salaries are payable for such committees.
(c) Availability of transferred fundsAny funds transferred under this section shall be—
(1) available for expenditure by such committee in like manner and for the same purposes as are other moneys which are available for expenditure by such committee from the account to which the funds were transferred; and
(2) made at such time or times as the Chairman shall specify in writing to the Senate Disbursing Office.
(d) Notification to Committee on AppropriationsThe Chairman of a committee transferring funds under this section shall notify the Committee on Appropriations of the Senate of the transfer.

Amendments1995—Pub. L. 104–53 amended section generally. Prior to amendment, section read as follows: “The Chairman of the Majority or Minority Conference Committee of the Senate may, during any fiscal year (commencing with the fiscal year ending September 30, 1991), at his election transfer not more than $275,000 from the appropriation account for salaries for the Conference of the Majority and the Conference of the Minority of the Senate, to the account, within the contingent fund of the Senate, from which expenses are payable under section 61g–6 of this title. Any transfer of funds under authority of the preceding sentence shall be made at such time or times as such chairman shall specify in writing to the Senate Disbursing Office. Any funds so transferred by the Chairman of the Majority or Minority Conference Committee shall be available for expenditure by such committee in like manner and for the same purposes as are other moneys which are available for expenditure by such committee from the account, within the contingent fund of the Senate, from which expenses are payable under section 61g–6 of this title.”
1991—Pub. L. 102–90 substituted “$275,000” for “$75,000”.
Effective Date of 1995 AmendmentPub. L. 104–53, title I, §7(b), Nov. 19, 1995, 109 Stat. 518, provided that: “The amendment made by this section [amending this section] shall take effect on October 1, 1995, and shall be effective with respect to fiscal years beginning on or after that date.”
Effective Date of 1991 AmendmentPub. L. 102–90, title I, §1(b), Aug. 14, 1991, 105 Stat. 450, provided that: “Subsection (a) [amending this section] shall take effect on October 1, 1991.”
