2005 Rhode Island Code - § 39-7-11 — Maintenance of margins on yard tracks.

    (a) In order to provide railroad employees a reasonably safe place to work, it shall be the duty of all persons, firms, or corporations engaged in the operation of railroads in this state to keep and maintain those margins alongside their yard tracks, except designated clean out and repair tracks, where the railroad employees are required to walk frequently in the course of their duties, reasonably free from debris and vegetation which unreasonably affects the safety of the employees while working. This section shall be enforced by the public utilities administrator upon complaint and after due hearing.

   (b) Any violation of the provisions of this section shall be deemed a misdemeanor, punishable by a fine of not less than one hundred dollars ($100) nor more than five hundred dollars ($500) for each separate offense.
