    § 62. Assistants.  1.  The attorney-general may appoint such assistant
  attorneys-general, deputy assistant attorneys-general and  attorneys  as
  he  may  deem  necessary  and  fix their compensation within the amounts
  appropriated therefor. Whenever deputy  or  deputy  attorney-general  is
  referred  to  or  designated  in  any  law,  contract  or  document such
  references or designations shall be  deemed  to  refer  to  and  include
  assistant   attorneys-general,  deputy  assistant  attorneys-general  or
  attorneys appointed by the attorney-general.
