    § 520. Boards  of  visitors.  1. Each of the schools shall continue to
  have a board of seven visitors, to be appointed by the governor  by  and
  with  the advice and consent of the senate.  The terms of office of such
  visitors shall be seven years, and they shall be so appointed  that  the
  term  of  one  of  the  members  of such board shall expire on the first
  Tuesday of February of each year. The  board  of  visitors  of  a  state
  school   which   was  in  operation  on  July  first,  nineteen  hundred
  seventy-one and which had fifteen members shall  continue  to  have  the
  same number of members.
    2. Members of the board of visitors shall not receive any compensation
  for their services, but shall receive actual and necessary traveling and
  other  expenses, to be paid after audit as other current expenditures of
  the institutions.
    3. Any member of a board of visitors may be removed  by  the  governor
  for  cause, after he has been given an opportunity to be heard. A member
  of a board of visitors who fails to attend three consecutive meetings of
  his board, unless excused by the  director,  shall  be  deemed  to  have
  vacated his office.
