161.31 MAPS AND PAMPHLETS.

Subdivision 1.Maps.

The commissioner shall periodically publish a map showing the location and status of improvements of the trunk highway system. Trunk highway maps may contain advertising as a means of offsetting the costs of preparing and distributing the maps. All advertising revenues received by the commissioner under this subdivision shall be deposited in the trunk highway fund.

Subd. 2.Pamphlets.

The commissioner may print and distribute pamphlets containing information pertaining to the trunk highway system. The pamphlets shall be limited to information as to the location and use of trunk highway routes, the location and proper use of traffic interchanges, speed laws and traffic restrictions, the meaning and use of traffic control devices and directional signs, and other information that will contribute to safer and more convenient use of trunk highways through increased knowledge and better understanding of the traveling public. The commissioner may use other means of communication to disseminate such information when such other means are more practical and efficient.
