Maryland Health Occupations Section 8-6B-01

      (a)      In this subtitle the following words have the meanings indicated.

      (b)      "Board" means the State Board of Nursing.

      (c)      "Committee" means the Electrology Practice Committee.

      (d)      "Electrologist" means an individual who practices electrology.

      (e)      "Electrology instructor" means an individual who practices electrology and teaches an electrology education program.

      (f)      "License" means, unless the context requires otherwise, a license issued by the Board:

            (1)      To practice electrology; or

            (2)      To practice electrology and teach an electrology education program.

      (g)      "Licensed electrologist" means, unless the context requires otherwise, an electrologist who is licensed by the Board to practice electrology.

      (h)      "Licensed electrology instructor" means, unless the context requires otherwise, an electrologist who is licensed by the Board to practice electrology and teach an electrology education program.

      (i)      "Practice electrology" means to remove hair permanently through the use of electrical instruments.
