Article - Department of Human Resources

§ 133.

      (a)      The Governor is authorized to establish a shelter, nutrition, and service program for homeless individuals and families.

      (b)      The purpose of this program is to:

            (1)      Provide crisis and transition shelter, proper nutrition, and adequate services to homeless individuals and families; and

            (2)      Services to prevent individuals and families from becoming homeless.

      (c)      The program shall be coordinated by an advisory board.

      (d)      (1)      The Department shall adopt regulations governing the implementation and evaluation of the programs and services under this subtitle.

            (2)      In addition to any other regulations the Department shall:

                  (i)      Establish uniform reporting criteria for providers of services to homeless individuals and families under this subtitle;

                  (ii)      Collect regional data on the number of homeless individuals and families who receive services under this subtitle;

                  (iii)      Report to the Governor annually on the extent of homelessness during the preceding year; and

                  (iv)      Make recommendations on the resources necessary to provide adequate services and programs.
