Maryland Political Subdivisions - Miscellaneous Provisions Section 11-403

      (a)      Notwithstanding any other sections of the Business Regulation Article, in Calvert County any palm reader, fortune-teller, soothsayer or similar person shall apply to the Clerk of the Circuit Court for a license to carry on business. The license shall be issued to cover only 3-month periods and the fee shall be $1,000. Prior to the issuance of the license the applicant must be fingerprinted and photographed by the Department of State Police and have a certificate from the Department that their records indicate that the person has never been convicted of a crime, other than motor vehicle violations.

      (b)      Any person violating the provisions of this section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and subject to a fine of not less than $100 nor more than $500 and may, in the discretion of the court, in addition, be imprisoned for not more than 6 months.
